School Receptionist & Administrative Assistant
Location: East Sussex
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Term Time + Some Holiday Cover)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience
We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Receptionist & Administrative Assistant to join a welcoming school office team.
As the first point of contact for visitors, parents, and staff, you will play a vital role in creating a positive impression of the school and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the reception area and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Greeting and assisting all visitors, parents, and students in a warm and professional manner
Answering and managing incoming phone calls and emails
Managing pupil attendance records and registers
Assisting with general school administration, including letters, reports, and filing
Supporting staff with photocopying, scanning, and other clerical tasks
Managing deliveries and post
Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role
What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience in a school or busy office environment (preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident using school management systems (training can be provided)
A calm, approachable manner with a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
A positive, can-do attitude and a team player mindset
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, term-time position with some additional hours during school holidays as required
The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references in line with safeguarding practices

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
