Your Role and Responsibilities As Second in Charge of Science, you will: * Support the Head of Science in leading, managing, and developing the Science Department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality curriculum across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level). * Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and differentiated Science lessons up to and including Key Stage 5. * Inspire students to develop a strong understanding and passion for scientific principles, methodologies, and their real-world applications. * Assist in the oversight of student progress and assessment, providing constructive feedback and contributing to reports. * Contribute to curriculum innovation and resource development within the department. * Support the organisation and lead extracurricular science activities, events, and trips, enriching the learning experience for all students. * Support the mentoring and development of departmental staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team. * Act as a form tutor and contribute positively to the wider life of the school community. What We're Looking For * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) at degree level or equivalent. * Proven experience teaching Science successfully across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5. * Demonstrable experience in a leadership or coordination role within a Science Department or similar educational setting. * A genuine passion for science and a profound commitment to inspiring the next generation of scientists and critical thinkers. * Excellent subject knowledge across the science curriculum, with expertise in various aspects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. * A dynamic, adaptable, and innovative teaching style that fosters academic rigour. * Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment. * A collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, eager to contribute to a thriving school community.
