Job Overview

Clarence Recruitment are seeking a Teacher of Science for a secondary school in Tamworth. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across the science curriculum, inspiring students to develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts and a passion for learning. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment. 
The postholder will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential, fostering curiosity, critical thinking and a commitment to academic success. The role also includes contributing to the wider life of the school and supporting departmental development.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across the science curriculum in line with national expectations.
Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports effective learning for all students.
Assess, monitor and report on student progress, using data to inform teaching and support outcomes.
Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs and high prior attainment.
Maintain high expectations of behaviour in line with organisational policies.
Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources.
Support the delivery of practical science, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Provide feedback to students to support their progress and development.
Participate in meetings, parents' evenings and wider school activities.
Contribute to the pastoral care of students as required, including tutor responsibilities where appropriate.

Person Specification

Essential

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Degree in a relevant scientific subject.
Strong subject knowledge across one or more science disciplines.
Ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
Strong classroom management skills.
Ability to assess and track student progress effectively.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Desirable

Experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and 5 if applicable).
Experience of delivering practical science lessons.
Ability to teach across multiple science disciplines.
Experience of using data to raise attainment.
