An Outstanding mixed-gender secondary school in Redbridge is seeking a talented individual to join their highly successful Science department as Second in Science for a permanent, full-time position this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive curriculum development and mentor colleagues.
What you'll be doing:
* You'll be designing and delivering engaging Chemistry lessons at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (A-level), alongside broader Science teaching.
* As Second in Science, you will support the Head of Department with curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and staff development, with a focus on Chemistry.
* It's about fostering rigorous scientific inquiry, encouraging practical experimentation, and developing students' analytical and problem-solving skills.
What we're looking for:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in Chemistry.
* Proven experience teaching Chemistry effectively across the secondary age range, with a track record of strong student outcomes.
* Demonstrable leadership experience or a clear readiness to step into a Second in Department role.
* A deep and current understanding of the Science curriculum, excellent laboratory skills, and a commitment to innovative teaching methods.
* Strong communication skills, effective classroom management, and a genuine ability to inspire scientific curiosity.
