Job Title: Second in charge - Science Location: Greenwich Salary: £38,766 - £60,092 per annum (depending on experience) Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time Are you an experienced Science teacher ready to take the next step into leadership? A high-achieving and forward-thinking school in Greenwich is seeking a dynamic and motivated Second in Charge of Science to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed educator to support the strategic development of the science department and help raise standards of teaching, learning, and achievement. Key Responsibilities of the Second in charge - Science: Support the Head of Department in the leadership and management of the Science faculty. Deliver high-quality lessons across KS3–KS5 in your specialist science subject. Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment development, and data analysis. Mentor and support teachers within the department, sharing best practices. Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement. Play an active role in developing STEM enrichment and extracurricular opportunities. Requirements of the Second in charge - Science: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Degree in a science-related subject. Proven experience teaching science in secondary schools. Previous leadership or responsibility within a department is highly desirable. Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills. A commitment to inclusive and aspirational education. Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
