As Second in Science, you will assist the Head of Faculty in managing day-to-day operations, mentoring colleagues, driving improvement, and leading a specific key area such as KS4, assessment, or quality assurance. The role is ideal for a subject specialist with a deep understanding of pedagogy, strong subject knowledge, and the ability to lead by example.
Your Role

Deliver high-quality lessons in your specialism (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)

Work with the Head of Department to monitor standards and drive outcomes
*
Support the development of curriculum pathways and schemes of work
*
Take a lead role in supporting new teachers and sharing best practice
*
Contribute to data analysis, intervention planning, and departmental CPD
*
Help lead enrichment activities, STEM events, and partnerships with local organisations
Ideal Candidate
*
QTS and a Science-related degree
*
A minimum of three years’ classroom experience with proven impact
*
Excellent understanding of assessment, progression, and differentiation
*
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to support and inspire colleagues
*
A record of innovation and enthusiasm for practical science and enquiry-based learning
