Are you a resilient, highly patient, and skilled Learning Support Assistant dedicated to helping older students overcome significant barriers to learning? Do you have a passion for providing tailored support to pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex challenging behaviour? This is a vital role focused on creating a positive, structured, and nurturing environment for pupils who require intensive support in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The Ideal Role for You: * Location: Secondary Schools across [Specify location, e.g., Swansea/Bridgend Area] * Job Type: Full-time, Long-term/Supply assignments available * Pay: Competitive rates ranging from £85 - £128 per day (depending on experience/qualification) Key Responsibilities: * Provide dedicated one-to-one or small-group support to secondary pupils identified with ASD and/or complex social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEBD/EBD). * Proactively implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Positive Behaviour Support Plans within a secondary timetable and curriculum structure. * Utilize de-escalation strategies and therapeutic approaches to manage and positively redirect challenging behaviour. * Assist with personal care as required, showing dignity and respect. * Collaborate closely with the ALNCo, Head of Year, class teacher, and external agencies to ensure a consistent support framework. * Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, engagement, and behavioural incidents. Essential Requirements: * Proven, recent experience supporting adolescents with ASD/ALN and complex needs in a secondary or specialist setting. * Training in Team Teach, NFPS, or other recognised de-escalation and positive handling techniques is highly desirable. * Strong understanding of secondary school curriculum, examination processes, and classroom dynamics. * Excellent resilience, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to support. * A fully enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) – we can assist with obtaining a new one if needed. * References covering the last two years with no unexplained gaps.
