Job Title: Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Chesterfield Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Full-Time Do you have the commitment and flexibility to provide consistent, one-to-one support to young people in a secondary school environment? GSL Education are seeking a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Chesterfield. This is a full-time role, ideal for individuals with experience in SEN, youth work, care, or behaviour support who are ready to make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable students. Please note: A full UK driving licence with business insurance is essential for this role, as travel between school and alternative education sites may be required. Key Responsibilities for the SEMH TA: Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs. Help manage challenging behaviours and support students in regulating their emotions. Assist in the delivery of learning activities that meet individual needs. Build positive, trusting relationships to promote engagement and well-being. Support the implementation of personalised education and behaviour plans. Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to promote progress. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or additional needs. A patient, calm, and proactive approach to managing behaviour. Strong communication and teamwork skills. The ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff. A full UK driving licence with business insurance (essential). A background in education, youth work, or care (preferred but not essential). An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education. Why Join GSL Education?
