Job Title: Section Engineer – Major Highways Project
Location: South Oxfordshire
Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent
Duration: 3+ years
Overview:
A Tier 1 contractor is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join a major highways project in South Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to get in early on a significant scheme, with over 3 years of work secured. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering their section of the project from the outset.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate specific sections of highways, drainage, and earthworks packages
Support the Site Agent in managing subcontractors and engineers within your section
Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget for your section
Assist in reporting and liaising with project stakeholders
Monitor quality control and compliance with project specificationsEssential Experience:
Proven experience as a Section Engineer on highways projects
Knowledge of drainage, earthworks, and highways construction
Experience managing packages of significant value (ideally around £20m)
Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, subcontractors, and the wider project team
Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skillsWhy Join:
