Location: Westminster
Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum

GSL Education – London Branch is looking for an experienced Security and Fire Officer to protect and inspire a vibrant secondary school in Westminster. As the Security and Fire Officer, you will be a visible presence on site, keeping pupils, staff, and visitors safe while ensuring all fire procedures run like clockwork.
Responsibilities
Security and Fire Officer duties include monitoring entry and exit points and greeting all visitors professionally.
The Security and Fire Officer will carry out daily patrols of buildings and grounds, swiftly addressing any safety concerns.
Test fire alarms, extinguishers, and emergency lighting according to school schedules.
Lead fire drills, evacuations, and lockdown procedures, keeping calm and giving clear instructions.
Maintain accurate incident logs, CCTV records, and access‑control reports.
Work closely with the senior leadership team, site staff, and local authorities on all security and fire‑safety matters.
Provide first‑aid or emergency support until professional services arrive.
Requirements
Previous experience in a school or public‑sector setting as a Security and Fire Officer (or similar).
Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Close Protection licence.
Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK fire‑safety regulations and evacuation protocols.
Confidence in using CCTV systems, radios, and electronic access controls.
Excellent communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain or present an Enhanced DBS.
