Job Description

Security Architect Salary: £85,000 + Benefits Location: Bristol (Hybrid)   This is a high-impact Security Architect role within a global defence technology organisation, offering the opportunity to shape secure architectures for mission-critical systems used in high-assurance environments. You will sit at the heart of product and platform design, embedding security by design across the full software lifecycle and influencing engineering decisions at architectural level.   The role combines deep technical security expertise with strategic influence, governance, and stakeholder engagement. It is ideal for an experienced Security Architect who wants to work on complex, meaningful systems with real-world national security impact, while enjoying hybrid working and strong professional development opportunities.   Skills Secure architecture design and secure-by-design principles Risk assessment, threat modelling, and vulnerability management Security frameworks: ISO 27001, NIST 800-30/53, OWASP Cloud security architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP) Incident response, penetration testing, and remediation concepts Persuasive communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving capability   Knowledge MOD and UK Government security standards (JSP, Def Stan 05-138/139) Regulatory and compliance requirements in high-security environments Secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) Defence and government security operating environments Modern security architecture patterns and governance models   Experience Proven experience designing secure architectures for complex systems Operating in regulated, high-assurance, or defence-related environments Working across engineering teams to embed security early in design Producing security architecture artefacts, risk assessments, and design assurance Engaging with stakeholders to translate security risk into business impact Eligibility for SC clearance (or ability to obtain)
