Job Description

Security Systems & Acecess Control Engineer Location: Central London Working Hours: 8am-4:30pm Polyteck Building Services is seeking a skilled Security Systems & Access Control Engineer to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across multiple client sites in Central London. This role is vital in ensuring life safety systems remain compliant, reliable, and operational at all times. Principal Responsibilities * Ensure effective running of assigned jobs, including: - Allocating sufficient labour and time to complete tasks. - Managing and maintaining security and access control systems. - Carrying out reactive repairs and fault rectification. - Liaising with the Electrical Operations Manager and Purchasing Administrator to ensure sufficient equipment and materials are available. - Complete job sheets with accurate call-out descriptions, time spent, and work completed. - Maintain all required log sheets and ensure on-site log books are kept up to date. - Attend and respond to reactive call-outs both during and outside working hours. - Raise additional job sheets when extra on-site time is required. - Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety requirements and site risk assessments. - Liaise professionally with customers and tenants to ensure expectations are clearly managed and met Responsibilities Operational Duties * Install, maintain, and service fire and security systems. * Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and fault diagnosis. * Respond to emergency call-outs and resolve issues efficiently. * Ensure adequate resource planning for labour, time, and materials. * Maintain accurate site documentation and reporting. * Work collaboratively with procurement to source required parts and equipment. * Ensure all activities adhere to Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices. * Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, tenants, and team members. Personal Conduct * Maintain a professional image at all times. * Demonstrate flexibility with working hours when required. * Take ownership of responsibilities and contribute to company success. * Mentor team members and provide constructive feedback. * Uphold fairness and equal opportunity principles. Team Collaboration * Address challenges constructively and fairly. * Train apprentices and share site-specific knowledge. * Promote innovation and continuous improvement. * Encourage initiative and idea-sharing within the team. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Sales Growth: Engage with tenants to secure additional maintenance contracts. - Efficiency: Minimise time on call-outs and reduce repeat visits. - Cost Control: Limit material wastage and damage. - Customer Satisfaction: Deliver high-quality workmanship and foster repeat business. - Project Delivery: Complete tasks on time and within budget. Required Skills - Proven experience in 1st and 2nd fix wiring and fault finding. - Strong competency in security and access control systems - Financial awareness and cost-conscious approach. - Knowledge of Emergency Lighting servicing and relevant standards (BS5266). System Knowledge - Access Control: Paxton 10, Paxton Net2, Impro PAC - Entryphone Systems: Comelit, BPT, Videx, Fermax - CCTV: Hikvision, Dahua, Samsung (Analogue & IP) - Intruder: Texecom, Galaxy, Pyronix - Automated Gates/Barriers: FAAC, CAME - Fire Alarm Systems & AOV Systems (various) Additional Notes This job description outlines the core responsibilities and expectations of the role.
