Job Description

Empowering Learning are looking for a Functional Skills SEMH Teacher to work in a specialist Alternative Provision on the Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire border. Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is essential. QTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential as attitude and personality are absolutely key. Ability to teach English is essential and other secondary subjects are desirable. The ideal candidate will: Tutoring or training experience (particularly maths or English) Have the ability to teach secondary age pupils. Knowledge of secondary age curriculum expectations Be highly organised with excellent communication skills Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds Have excellent behaviour management skills Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.Main Responsibilities: Teaching subjects to KS4 and 5 pupils Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning. Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy Safeguarding vulnerable pupils Possible supervising on lunch and break times Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom Building relationships with staff and pupils Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils Potentially lead in a subject area Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carersBenefits of working with Empowering Learning: Dedicated consultant allocated to support you with any questions or concerns.
