SEMH Pupil Support Assistant Rochdale Full-time | Term-time only Permanent / Long-term opportunity Make a real difference where it matters most. Our students face social, emotional, and mental health challenges — and with the right support, they can thrive. We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and motivated SEMH Pupil Support Assistant to join our team. About the Role As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will work closely with students aged 11–16, providing tailored support to help them engage in learning, regulate their emotions, and build positive relationships. This is a rewarding but challenging role where no two days are the same. You will play a key role in helping students feel safe, understood, and capable of success. What You’ll Be Doing Supporting students with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm, positive manner Encouraging emotional regulation and resilience Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals Helping to create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment Who We’re Looking For You don’t need to come from a school background — we welcome applicants with transferable experience and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
