Teaching Assistant - SEMH Specialist School - Northamptonshire

Tradewind Recruitment Northampton is currently recruiting for enthusiastic and supportive Teaching Assistants to work in SEMH schools across Northamptonshire. These settings cater to pupils aged 7-16 with a range of emotional and behavioural challenges, often including trauma, anxiety, ADHD, or other complex needs.
Role overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role will be vital in supporting students both academically and emotionally. You will help create a safe, consistent, and nurturing learning environment where students can build self-esteem, trust, and the confidence to re-engage with education.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation
Mentoring pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis
Working collaboratively with pastoral and teaching staff
Using positive behaviour support strategies
Ideal candidate:
Background in youth work, mental health, or residential care is a bonus
Resilience, compassion and patience are essential
Experience with challenging behaviour or safeguarding is desirable
Must be flexible and proactive
