Job Title: SEMH Sports Coach
Location: Wakefield, WF4
Salary: £86-£100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a motivated and skilled SEMH Sports Coach to support students in a dynamic school in Wakefield. We are seeking someone who has a strong interest in sports and physical development and is committed to supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Role Overview:
As a SEMH Sports Coach, you will use sports and movement-based activities to support students in developing their behaviour, confidence, and teamwork. You will play a key role in helping students manage their emotions and engage in positive routines throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver structured sports and physical education sessions adapted for students with SEMH needs.
Support students during lessons, break times, and transitions across the school day.
Track student progress in engagement, participation, and personal development.
Encourage teamwork, resilience, and respect through sport-based approaches.
Help create a safe, supportive, and active learning environment.
Requirements:
A recognised coaching qualification (e.g. Level 2 in Sports Coaching, PE, or related subject) is preferred.
Must be Team Teach trained and confident in using positive behaviour techniques.
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, trauma, or behavioural challenges is desirable.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Must have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply through GSL Education.
