SEMH Support Assistant – Primary School | Blackpool (FY1)
Location: Blackpool (FY1)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term-Time Only)
Start Date: November 2025
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

A welcoming primary school in Blackpool (FY1) is seeking a SEMH Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who requires tailored emotional and behavioural support. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact in a child’s life.
About the Role:
You’ll work closely with a pupil who has an active Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), providing consistent emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day. You’ll help them build confidence, regulate emotions, and engage positively with learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s SEMH needs and EHCP targets
Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to promote emotional regulation
Encourage positive relationships, resilience, and self-esteem
Support academic engagement through personalised interventions
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support

Experience supporting children with SEMH needs (school, youth work, care, or similar)
Understanding of EHCPs and safeguarding procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Calm, empathetic, and proactive approach
A genuine desire to help children succeed emotionally and academically
