As a SEMH TA you will be responsible for the below:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs including anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma, behavioural challenges, and emotional dysregulation
Supporting the implementation of individualised behaviour support plans and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to help children regulate emotions and engage with learning
Adapting resources and activities to meet diverse emotional and behavioural needs
Supporting children's social and emotional development, helping them build confidence, resilience and independence
Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals including educational psychologists, counsellors and mental health practitioners
To join us and be successful in this role you will ideally need:
A genuine passion for working with children and commitment to inclusive education
Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children who face emotional and behavioural challenges
Transferrable skills from roles such as care work, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, childcare or similar supportive positions
Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour
Willingness to learn SEMH-specific strategies and undertake training (full training and support provided)
Relevant qualifications in SEMH, childcare, health and social care or education (desirable but not essential - we value experience and attitude)
Current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and satisfactory professional references
Complete CV detailing employment history for the previous 10 years where available
