Job Title: SEMH Teacher Area: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term Rate: £140 - £220 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm About the School: The school provides specialist education for secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and is committed to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where every young person can achieve their potential. As an SEMH Teacher, you will: Deliver engaging and personalised lessons to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and additional learning requirements. Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons that meet individual needs, abilities, and EHCP outcomes. Create a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Build positive relationships with students, using a trauma-informed and relational approach to support engagement and progress. Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence building, social development, and preparation for adulthood. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, pastoral teams, and families to provide consistent support.What We're Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, or complex additional needs. A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour support strategies. Experience working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, anxiety, low confidence, or barriers to learning. A calm, patient, resilient, and consistent approach to classroom management. The ability to build trusting relationships with young people and support their individual needs. The flexibility and creativity to adapt teaching approaches, resources, and interventions to support a diverse range of learners.To be eligible, you must: Hold Right to Work in the UK. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application.
