Job Description

SEMH Teacher (Primary) – Batley Start Date: November 2025 Location: Batley Salary: £160–£300 per day (dependent on MPS/UPS scale) Hours: Full-time, 8:00am – 3:30pm Agency: Milk Education Milk Education is recruiting for a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a nurturing specialist provision in Batley. The role involves working with a small group of 12 pupils (Year 1 – Year 6), all with EHCPs. The children primarily present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with behaviours often linked to challenges in the home environment. We are looking for an educator who can combine effective behaviour management with warmth, patience, and a genuinely nurturing approach to support children both academically and emotionally. Key Responsibilities: * Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs. * Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment. * Implement effective behaviour management strategies to ensure consistency and calm. * Support children’s social, emotional, and personal development alongside academic progress. * Work closely with the SENCO, support staff, and external professionals to provide holistic support. * Use EHCPs to adapt planning and provision to meet the needs of each child. Essential Requirements: * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). * Experience teaching children with SEMH or in an inclusive setting. * Strong behaviour management skills, ideally with Team Teach training (desirable but not essential). * A nurturing, empathetic approach and commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners. * Confident in teaching core subjects including English and Maths. * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
