Job Description

Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Wakefield, WF4 Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Part-time / Full-time GSL Education are seeking a patient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a school in Wakefield. This role is perfect for someone who wants to help students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs learn and thrive in a calm and supportive setting. In this role, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to support students’ learning and emotional development. Your help will contribute to creating a positive and safe classroom where students feel understood and encouraged. Main Responsibilities: Assist students with SEMH needs to engage in their learning and manage their behaviour positively. Support the class teacher by delivering planned learning activities. Apply Team Teach strategies safely to help manage challenging behaviour. Encourage students to develop social skills and confidence. Keep clear records of students’ progress and behaviour. Promote a welcoming and safe environment for all students. Work alongside staff and parents to meet students’ individual needs. Requirements: Current Level 2 Team Teach certification is essential. Experience working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education. Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
