Job Opportunity: Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support Location: Hull  Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time only Salary: Dependent on experience Start Date:  Septemeber or sooner GSL Education is seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to work at a Alternative Provision in Hull, dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as Special Educational Needs and Diasbilities (SEND). Some students may have been kicked out of mainstream school and now attend a Pupil Referral Unit. About the School: Specialist Provision for SEMH Needs: The school provides tailored support for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re-engage with education in a nurturing environment. Personalised Learning Approach: Focuses on small class sizes and individualised learning plans to meet the unique needs of each student, promoting academic and personal growth. Emphasis on Wellbeing & Development: Prioritises emotional regulation, resilience, and self-confidence, equipping students with skills for both education and life beyond school. Strong Pastoral Support: Provides dedicated support systems, including mentoring and therapeutic interventions, to help students overcome challenges and achieve their potential. Pathways to Future Success: Encourages students to develop key life and employability skills, ensuring they are prepared for reintegration into mainstream education, further study, or employment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties. Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons, ensuring that all students can participate effectively. Build trusting and supportive relationships with students to help them manage emotions, behaviour, and social interactions. Implement structured behaviour management techniques to encourage positive engagement in learning. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement effective intervention strategies. Support students in developing essential life skills, promoting independence and confidence. Encourage a calm and inclusive learning environment that fosters emotional well-being. Key Requirements: Experience working with children with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or other additional needs. A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with challenging behaviours. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. An understanding of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management strategies. A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one). Why Join GSL Education?
