SEMH Teaching Assistant
Prospero Teaching are working with a dedicated SEMH Provision based in the New Milton area that is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This specialist provision offers tailored education and care to young people who experience a range of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that impact their ability to engage with mainstream education. The provision supports pupils who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and other complex needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both the academic progress and pastoral development of pupils aged 11-16, focusing on building strong, trusting relationships, promoting emotional resilience, and creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
Your role will include assisting pupils in lessons, delivering 1:1 or small group interventions, supporting emotional regulation, modelling positive behaviours, and helping students re-engage with learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
You will be expected to uphold the school's ethos and behaviour policies, work as part of a trauma-informed and nurturing team, and demonstrate flexibility, empathy, and consistency at all times.
