Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Redbridge
Salary: £85 to £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual with experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education is currently seeking enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in Special Schools across Redbridge that support pupils with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), and SEMH.
This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to make a genuine impact in a nurturing and structured school environment. You’ll work closely with students who require additional support, helping them to thrive both emotionally and academically.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH, MLD and ASC.
Assist in delivering tailored interventions and behaviour management strategies.
Create a safe, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and support staff.
Promote emotional wellbeing and positive social skills among pupils.
Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working in an SEMH, MLD, or ASC setting is preferable.
Confident in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies.
Empathetic, patient, and committed to supporting students with additional needs.
Able to build strong and trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
A team player with excellent communication skills.
