SEMH Teaching Assistant - Tower Hamlets Primary School (Near Bow Station)
Location: Tower Hamlets - walking distance from Bow Station
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Long Term
Salary: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets, just a short walk from Bow Station, is seeking a confident and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This is a vital role supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 who require additional emotional and behavioural support.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
Work closely with individual students or small groups with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Support classroom engagement and behaviour regulation strategies
Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage resilience and positive learning behaviours
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to deliver targeted interventions
Help create a calm, consistent and structured environment for learning
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant profile:
Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behaviour, or additional needs
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
Patient, empathetic and consistent approach
Understanding of safeguarding and child development
DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
