Salary: £89 – £105 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work across schools in Hull. This role is ideal for someone who can make a real difference in students’ lives, helping them engage with their learning and develop positive behaviours.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with SEMH needs. You will assist in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment, helping students manage their emotions, improve social skills, and achieve their academic potential. You will also collaborate with staff and parents to ensure each pupil receives tailored support.
To be a successful SEMH Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will be:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and interventions.
Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.
Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive engagement.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Prepare and organise classroom resources for SEMH support sessions.
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to meet student needs.
Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learning.
Support students during breaks, lunchtimes, and transitions as required.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of SEMH-focused activities.
SEMH TA Requirements:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs.
Relevant qualifications (desirable, e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent).
A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
