A welcoming mainstream primary school in Thornton is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils who need help regulating emotions, managing behaviour, and building confidence. What You’ll Be Doing:
Delivering tailored interventions to support emotional literacy, social skills, and behaviour regulation
Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times to maintain a calm and structured environment
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement EHCP targets
Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches to build trust and resilience
Encouraging positive relationships and helping pupils engage with learning
✅ What We’re Looking For:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience in SEMH support)
Experience working with children with SEMH needs (in education, care, or youth settings)
A calm, nurturing, and patient approach
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
Understanding of behaviour support strategies and safeguarding practices
