Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Art Teacher to join a specialist team supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by promoting artistic design and wellbeing, while adapting lessons to meet diverse individual needs. The school aims to support all students with their specific needs and barriers to learning to enable them to reach their full potential both academically and in terms of managing their behaviour. This is achieved by providing high quality teaching and learning and by using assessment, engagement and developing educational programmes. Key Responsibilities * Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Art lessons tailored to pupils aged 11-18 years who have autism and associated conditions * Promote the benefits of art, as well as qualities such as teamwork, confidence, and resilience through a broad curriculum of art and design activities. * Adapt equipment, resources, and teaching strategies to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all learners. * Work collaboratively with stakeholders including support staff, and other teachers to provide a holistic learning experience. * Contribute to extra-curricular activities, enrichment programmes, and whole-school wellbeing initiatives. * Maintain high expectations of behaviour, while using positive behaviour support strategies in line with school policies. What We’re Looking For * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) – with proficiency in art and design * Experience of working in SEN settings or a strong willingness to learn and adapt teaching approaches. * Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for art and design * A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and enabling every young person to achieve their full potential.
