We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Behaviour Mentor to work with a pupil who requires tailored emotional and behavioural support within a school setting. About the Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
Support a pupil with SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) or behavioural challenges.
Build a trusting, consistent relationship that provides stability and promotes positive change.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement individualised support strategies.
Help re-engage the pupil in their learning through encouragement, structure, and emotional support.
Create a safe, calm, and inclusive environment where the child feels seen, heard, and valued.
This is more than just classroom support, it’s about showing up for a child who needs someone in their corner.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural challenges (formal or informal).
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A genuine passion for inclusion and improving young lives.
Essential Requirements
Availability to work full-time during school hours (term time).
Willingness to work 1:1 with a pupil who requires behavioural and emotional support.
Understanding of or willingness to learn school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
Right to work in the UK.
