Job Description

SEN/Education Lawyer Rate: £45-£55 per hour - Negotiable DOE Contract Length: 3-6-month initial contract East Midlands Local Authority Flexible Hybrid Working We are seeking an experienced SEN and Education Lawyer to join a dynamic local authority legal team in the midlands. The successful candidate will advise and represent the Council in Education and SEN-related legal proceedings, including SEND Tribunals, Judicial Review matters, and school admission and exclusion appeals, while supporting senior officers and members with reports, briefings, and policy guidance. Key Responsibilities Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of Education and SEN law, including statutory assessments, EHCPs, school admissions, exclusions, and appeals. Represent the Council in SEND Tribunals and other legal proceedings, ensuring compliance with procedural and statutory requirements. Draft and review reports, correspondence, and complex legal documentation for internal and external stakeholders. About You Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX (licensed to practice). Demonstrable experience in Education and SEN law, ideally within a local authority setting. Excellent advocacy, case management, and negotiation skills.
