Through our Children's Education Services, we support young people facing significant barriers to education. Many of our students are outside of mainstream schooling and need focused, structured, and sensitive tuition to re-engage them in their learning journey.
As a 1:1 Specialist Tutor, you will:
Deliver bespoke, engaging lessons in English, Maths, ESOL, and other core subjects to learners with diverse and often complex needs.
Help bridge learning gaps and rebuild confidence for pupils who have often missed significant periods of formal education.
Implement tailored strategies that address behavioural, emotional, and academic challenges.
Maintain flexibility and creativity to meet each student's individual needs and goals.
Workload and Hours:
Fully flexible - choose how many pupils you support and when.
Opportunities typically range from 5 to 15 hours per week per student.
Most tuition takes place during school hours, though after-school sessions may also be available.
Support and Resources:
While you will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons, you'll be supported by Prospero's Learning Delivery Manager, who can provide:
Lesson plan templates
Baseline assessments
Tailored resources
If the pupil is still enrolled in a school, we will coordinate with the classroom teacher to identify specific learning gaps, helping you create a more effective, bespoke programme.
Who We're Looking For:
Qualified teaching professionals with experience in SEN, ESOL, and/or GCSE tuition
Confident delivering 1:1 lessons to students with additional learning needs or complex circumstances
Able to adapt teaching style to support emotional and behavioural development

Right to work in the UK
Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)
At least 6 months' experience in a UK school or 12 months working with SEN pupils
