What you’ll do:
Provide consistent 1:1 support across the school day. You’ll break tasks into clear steps, use visual schedules, and scaffold transitions between lessons. You’ll reinforce teacher instructions, model regulation strategies, and keep succinct notes on progress so next steps are obvious. You’ll work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO, and parents to keep strategies aligned.
Who you are:
A graduate who communicates clearly, stays composed under pressure, and builds trust quickly. You follow support plans, maintain firm but fair boundaries, and focus on small wins that grow confidence and independence.
Requirements
Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
Communication – Clear, confident verbal and written skills.
Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, behaviour support, and pupil wellbeing.
Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
The School:
A ‘Good’ secondary in Ladywood with established inclusion systems and supportive leadership. Expect clear routines, practical coaching, and regular check-ins so you can make impact quickly and develop professionally.
