Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN/SEMH Tutor to support a Year 8 student in Lymington, focusing on English and Maths. The student presents with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN). Your role will be to build trust, boost confidence, and help the student re-engage with learning in a nurturing and structured environment. Prospero Teaching offer a number of additional tuition opportunities: Part-time or full-time roles Work during school hours or fit sessions around your schedule Local placements in The New Forest and surrounding communities As a Tutor, you will: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students. Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential. Record student progress and report on this weekly. Be understanding, empathetic and patient. Record attendance. Be organised, dependable and creative. Be calm, fair and adaptable.About you: Nurturing and caring nature Patient, kind and understanding Strong understanding of the National Curriculum Organised Comfortable to support secondary aged pupils with English, Maths and possibly Science too or comfortable to Mentor young people. Have experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs.Position - Tutor Contract or position start date - ASAP Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A Full time/part-time - Opportunities for both Hours - 15 Hours per week- flexible Essential & Desirable Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must: Hold right to work in the UK Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application Provide references upon request Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
