SEN Outreach Tutor - Barking and Dagenham

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Outreach Tutor to work 1:1 with pupils across Barking and Dagenham who are currently not in mainstream education. These young learners may face a range of challenges, including SEN needs, anxiety, or long-term absence from school.
About the Role
As an Outreach Tutor, you will deliver personalised and engaging education plans tailored to each student's needs. Your role is pivotal in helping these pupils re-engage with learning, rebuild their confidence, and progress academically.
This is an ideal opportunity for experienced teachers or tutors who are looking for a more flexible, student-focused approach to education.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver bespoke 1:1 tutoring sessions (face-to-face) in various locations across Barking and Dagenham.
Plan and deliver lessons across core subjects, adapted to individual student needs.
Support pupils with SEN or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Encourage personal growth, routine, and educational engagement.
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the Prospero team.

Location: Barking and Dagenham (and surrounding areas)
Position: Outreach Tutor (SEN focus)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Flexible - sessions are between 1 to 3 hours; part-time and full-time opportunities available
Pay: From £25 per hour (depending on experience and assignment)
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS/PGCE/EYFS or equivalent)
Minimum 6 months' teaching/tutoring experience in UK schools
A calm, empathetic approach with a strong understanding of SEN/SEMH needs
Strong behaviour management and motivational skills
Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete one)
Eligibility Criteria
Must have the Right to Work in the UK
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for a new one)
Able to provide two professional references covering the last two years
