Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a welcoming and supportive school in West London, just a short walk from Hillingdon Hospital.
About the Role:
You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support students with a range of complex needs, including:
Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
Down Syndrome
Non-verbal communication needs
This is a hands-on role that requires empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
✅ The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Proven school-based experience supporting children with SEN
Specific experience with SLD, Down Syndrome, and non-verbal communicators
Strong understanding of alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices
A patient, nurturing and proactive approach to supporting individual needs
The desired SEN Teaching Assistant will:
Have a passion to teach outside of a mainstream environment, and a commitment to experience the unique opportunities of a special school
Have a kind, caring, and compassionate nature which is used to plan and deliver inclusive, fun, and inspiring lessons
Must hold a DBS on the updated service
An ability to work as part of a team and flexible approach to support this schools requirements
Be able to do personal care
