Make a real difference every day as an SEN Teaching Assistant
Education First is recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Barking, East London, starting in January.
The successful candidate will work within the school's Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP), supporting primary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN TA, SEND Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant looking for a long-term position within a supportive primary school environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant working within the school's ARP, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
* Support pupils with Autism / ASC, ADHD and communication needs
* Help pupils access learning and participate in classroom activities
* Support pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
* Encourage independence, confidence and social development
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
* Adapt activities and learning to meet individual needs
* Follow individual support plans and EHCP outcomes
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in candidates with:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
* Experience supporting pupils with Autism / ASC
* Experience within a primary school, ARP, SEN school or specialist provision
* Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support
* A calm, patient and nurturing approach
* The ability to build strong relationships with pupils
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A good understanding of safeguarding
* A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable
Experience supporting children with complex needs, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs would also be advantageous.
