Learning Support Assistant – 1:1 SEN Support Mainstream Primary School – Ealing Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time About the Role We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Ealing who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children develop their communication, independence, confidence and engagement through personalised support. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SEN team and other professionals to provide consistent, structured and nurturing support. The role will involve supporting pupils who are working significantly below age-related expectations and require a highly individualised approach. Experience with SEN, communication needs, sensory needs, intensive interaction, play-based learning and personal care would be highly desirable. Key Responsibilities * Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs. * Deliver personalised activities and learning based on each pupil's individual timetable and targets. * Use play, intensive interaction and sensory-based activities to encourage communication, engagement and development. * Support pupils with limited verbal communication, including using PECS and other communication strategies where appropriate. * Provide personal care support when required. * Help pupils manage sensory needs and emotional regulation through a calm, consistent and structured approach. * Support pupils to access learning at their individual level, including those working significantly below age-related expectations. * Encourage independence and develop pupils' confidence and life skills. * Adapt activities and resources to suit individual interests, abilities and needs. * Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day. * Work closely with teachers, the SEN team and external professionals to ensure consistent support. * Maintain appropriate observations and contribute to reviews of pupil progress. * Create a safe, positive and inclusive environment where pupils feel supported and understood. The Ideal Candidate Will Have * Previous experience working with children with SEN or additional needs. * Experience providing 1:1 support within a school or educational setting. * A patient, nurturing and compassionate approach * A calm and consistent approach to managing challenging or overstimulating situations. * A willingness to provide personal care where required. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (UDS), or willingness to apply for one. * Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 TA, LSA or SEN qualifications are desirable but not essential.
