Location: Barnet, North London Job Type: Full-time Contract: Long-term / Permanent Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you an experienced SEN Teacher with a strong background supporting children and young people with Autism and complex communication needs? We are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist school setting in North London. The successful candidate will have proven experience working with autistic pupils who are non-verbal or have significant communication difficulties. The Role: As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals to create a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual pupil needs. Support pupils with Autism and complex learning needs. Work confidently with non-verbal pupils and pupils with significant communication difficulties. Use appropriate communication strategies and visual supports to promote engagement and independence. Develop positive relationships with pupils and understand their individual needs and behaviours. Differentiate the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access learning. Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development. Work collaboratively with LSAs, teaching assistants, therapists and senior staff. Monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual education plans and reviews. Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.The Ideal Candidate: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification. Proven experience working with children or young people with Autism. Specific experience working with non-verbal pupils is essential. Experience supporting pupils with complex communication needs. A good understanding of Autism and associated learning needs. Experience using visual communication, PECS, symbols or other alternative communication methods would be advantageous. A patient, calm and nurturing approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.Why Work With Us?
