Position: SEN Teacher - Autism Location: Nottingham Salary: >£38.2k Role: Permanent Mayfield Recruitment are currently looking for a SEN Teacher - Autism in the Nottingham area on a permanent basis. The position will be working with 5- 19 year olds so the candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience working with ASC. Job description for the SEN Teacher – Autism position • The SEN Teacher will be enabling each student to independently contribute to society, embrace lifelong learning and achieve without a ceiling. • You will be working with a range of candidates with varying levels of qualification and must have experience in working with 5-19 year olds • The successful candidate will be delivering small group sessions at a base specifically crafted for a small group of students. • The SEN Teacher must be able to build trusting relationships and provide security to vulnerable learners Essential experience for the SEN Teacher - Autism: • An understanding of a variety of behaviour management techniques, with a focus on resolution management followed by developmental reflection. • To be able to work in partnership with a number of professionals, as well as parents/carers. • Experience and passion for working outside of the conventional classroom and embracing outdoor learning, • A practical understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation Essential Skills for the SEN Teacher – Autism: • Behaviour management and de-escalation techniques • Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of learners with an ASC Preferred Qualifications for the SEN Teacher – Autism: • Qualified Teacher Status in Secondary or Special Education • A knowledge of, and up to date qualifications in, the safe handling of students (Team Teach). • First Aid • Autism Level 1&2 preferred Key Responsibilities • Planning Schemes of Work with a creative, yet target based approach • Advocating outdoor learning, • Responsibility for leading progression with student’s autism and/or associated behaviours. • Responsibility for marking students’ work in line with the marking policy and feeding back to students and leaders. • Able to embed fundamental British values and opportunities for students to increase their spiritual, moral, social and cultural education. • To follow a self-constructed Scheme of Work in line with a long-term plan, • Use assessment software to monitor students’ progress, the analysis of which will feed into planning. • Report on the progress of students’ both in subjects and related to their autism. • Timely completion of teacher and student assessment documentation. • Able to highlight and request resources to best impact the academic progress of the student. • Responsibility to lead some inset day sessions • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings as and when required • Responsibility for taking ownership of own continued professional development and performance management process. • To keep up to date with latest educational advances and research in the field. • Responsibility for attending moderation sessions • Responsibility for embracing the local community and planning session in order to have an impact on the local area. Compliance responsibilities • Have an awareness of the risk assessment for bases in which you will work • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Administrative Responsibilities for the SEN Teacher – Autism: • Preparation of Schemes of Work and communication of these to the relevant parties • Preparation of any resources for lessons. • Responsible for the input of data to, and analysis of reports from, planning and logging software. • Contribute to Risk Assessments where sessions deem this a requirement. • Bi-annually contributing to reports to be communicated home to parents. Hours • Monday - Friday 08:30am-15:30pm Full time, Term time • 190 contact days • 5 inset days • Salary £30,992.09 - £38,294.25
