About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated Supply SEN/SEMH Teacher to work across SEN/SEMH settings on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and will be committed to creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.
The role will involve delivering high-quality lessons, adapting teaching to meet individual needs and maintaining a positive classroom environment. You will work closely with teaching assistants, support staff and other members of the school team to ensure pupils receive the appropriate support to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons for pupils with SEN/SEMH needs.
* Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual learning needs.
* Establish positive and supportive relationships with pupils.
* Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, safe learning environment.
* Follow individual education plans, support plans and other relevant documentation.
* Work effectively with teaching assistants and other support staff.
* Assess pupils' learning and provide appropriate feedback.
* Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development.
* Maintain accurate records of pupil progress where required.
* Liaise professionally with colleagues and other members of the school's support team.
* Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
* Provide continuity of learning and routines when covering lessons or classes.
* Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
* Experience of working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH.
* A good understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice.
* Strong classroom management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient, caring and nurturing approach.
* Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and changing circumstances.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
* Experience working within a specialist SEN setting.
* Knowledge of autism, ADHD, complex needs or social, emotional and mental health needs.
* Experience using individual education plans and personalised learning approaches.
* Additional SEN-related qualifications or training.
