SEN Teacher – (Autism Specialist Setting)

About the Role:
An outstanding opportunity has become available for an experienced and passionate SEN Teacher to join a well-regarded special school located just outside Watford. This role is ideal for someone who is dedicated to supporting young people with autism spectrum conditions and associated needs, including speech, language, sensory processing, and behaviour-related challenges.
Working in a calm, nurturing environment with small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios, you’ll be part of a skilled and collaborative team committed to providing personalised, structured learning to help each student achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with complex needs, primarily autism
Create and implement structured routines and visual supports to aid communication and learning
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to provide a consistent, holistic approach
Contribute to and monitor progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Promote emotional regulation, social development, and independence through evidence-based strategies
Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that is safe and inclusive
Participate in ongoing CPD and contribute to whole-school development initiatives
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent, with experience in special or inclusive education
A strong understanding of autism and associated learning differences
Experience working with pupils with SEN, ideally in a specialist or alternative provision
Resilient, patient, and committed to student-centred practice
Excellent teamworking and communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
