Are you a dedicated and experienced English teacher with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? This school in Kent is looking to appoint a skilled SEN English Teacher, ideally secondary-trained, who can also take on the responsibility of leading English across the school as well as a form tutor role.

This school is a supportive, specialist setting that caters for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The Role
This is a full-time role that combines teaching English across KS3 and KS4 with a key leadership position, overseeing the development and delivery of the English curriculum. The successful candidate will also be a Form Tutor, providing vital pastoral support and contributing to the holistic development of their students.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD and SEMH.
Lead the English curriculum across the school, ensuring it is accessible, aspirational, and inclusive.
Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
Work closely with other staff and specialists to support student well-being and development.
Fulfil the role of Form Tutor, building positive relationships with students and families.
Contribute to whole-school literacy and communication strategies.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with a secondary specialism in English preferred.
Experience working with students with ASD, SEMH, and associated needs.
A thorough understanding of inclusive and differentiated teaching practices.
A collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team.
Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in students’ lives.
Experience or interest in middle leadership and curriculum development.
