Job Title: SEN Teacher
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: £130 - £180 per day (dependent on experience)
Location: Whelley, Wigan (WN1)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for a permanent position)
A supportive and inclusive primary school located in the Whelley area of Wigan is looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time role ideally suited to a qualified teacher with a passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading tailored provision for pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges. Working closely with the SENCO and wider staff team, you will plan and deliver personalised learning programmes and ensure each child receives the support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEND.
Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, as appropriate.
Contribute to the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
Liaise effectively with the SENCO, support staff, and parents/carers.
Foster a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that supports academic and emotional development.
Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
Essential Criteria:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience working with children with SEN in a primary setting.
Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and inclusive practices.
A calm, patient, and flexible approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
Additional training or qualifications in SEND (e.g., NASENCO, Autism Awareness, Team Teach).
