We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join a supportive specialist provision in Milton Keynes, working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This part-time role starts in September 2025 and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people with additional needs.
As an ASC Teacher, you will lead engaging, structured, and sensory-friendly lessons tailored to students’ unique communication, learning, and behavioural needs. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all learners are supported to reach their full potential in a calm, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver individualised education plans (IEPs) and structured lesson content for learners with ASC
Use strategies including visual supports, PECS, Makaton, and sensory integration to meet diverse communication and sensory needs
Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and SENCOs to provide holistic support and consistency across learning and behaviour plans
Track and assess progress regularly, adapting strategies in response to each learner’s needs
Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular updates and engaging them in the learning journey
Foster a positive, predictable classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and understood
Stay informed on best practices in ASC education through ongoing professional development
Apply positive behaviour support techniques, including de-escalation and low-arousal approaches, to manage challenging behaviours effectively
Requirements:
UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent in Special Education
Proven experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition, ideally in a specialist or SEN setting
Strong understanding of ASC, sensory processing differences, and communication strategies
Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with a wider SEN team and parents
A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and professional growth
