Teaching Assistants needed with HI Experience Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background in supporting children with hearing impairments? About the Role We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child aged 5+ with a diagnosed hearing impairment. You’ll work closely with teaching staff, specialist services, and families to ensure the child has full access to the curriculum and a rich, rewarding school experience. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 classroom and pastoral support for a child with hearing impairment Use tailored strategies and communication methods (e.g., British Sign Language, cued speech, or assistive technology) Work collaboratively with Teachers of the Deaf, SENDCo, and external agencies to implement and review personalised learning plans Adapt learning materials and support classroom activities to suit the child’s individual needs Encourage social interaction, independence, and confidence in and out of the classroom What We’re Looking For Experience supporting children with hearing loss or auditory processing difficulties, ideally aged 5+ Knowledge of inclusive communication strategies (e.g., BSL, visual supports, speech-to-text apps) A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to SEN support Team player with strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusion Relevant qualifications or training in SEN and/or supporting children with hearing impairments (desirable but not essential) In Return, We Offer: A warm and inclusive school committed to the success of every learner A genuine opportunity to make a difference in a child’s early learning journey A respectful, professional environment where your skills and passion are valued “Every child deserves to be heard and we’re looking for someone who can help amplify their voice.” If this is the role for you contact Courtney - (url removed) All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
