Teaching Assistants needed with HI Experience

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child aged 5+ with a diagnosed hearing impairment. You’ll work closely with teaching staff, specialist services, and families to ensure the child has full access to the curriculum and a rich, rewarding school experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 classroom and pastoral support for a child with hearing impairment
Use tailored strategies and communication methods (e.g., British Sign Language, cued speech, or assistive technology)
Work collaboratively with Teachers of the Deaf, SENDCo, and external agencies to implement and review personalised learning plans
Adapt learning materials and support classroom activities to suit the child’s individual needs
Encourage social interaction, independence, and confidence in and out of the classroom
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting children with hearing loss or auditory processing difficulties, ideally aged 5+
Knowledge of inclusive communication strategies (e.g., BSL, visual supports, speech-to-text apps)
A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to SEN support
Team player with strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusion
Relevant qualifications or training in SEN and/or supporting children with hearing impairments (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
