Are you experienced in supporting children with additional and complex needs?
Veritas Education is currently working with a number of primary and specialist schools across Hackney who are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. We are seeking individuals who are confident in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including behavioural and emotional difficulties.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. This may involve one-to-one or small group work with children who present with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex learning profiles.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualised support to pupils with SEN
Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development
Help implement EHCPs and learning interventions
Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Collaborate with staff and families to support pupil progress and well-being
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements:
Experience supporting children with SEN and/or behavioural challenges (essential)
Confident managing behaviour and working in high-need settings
Knowledge of SEN strategies and safeguarding practices
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, CACHE, or equivalent) desirable
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
