Learning Support Assistant – Specialist School, Basingstoke
A specialist school in Basingstoke is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join its team on a part-time or full-time basis. About the Role
The Learning Support Assistant will work under the guidance of class teachers and senior staff to support pupils aged between 2 and 11 years. The children have a wide range of needs, including physical disabilities, medical conditions, developmental delays, and complex learning difficulties.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting individual and small groups of pupils in their learning and development
Assisting with personal care and mobility where required
Creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Supporting communication and interaction needs, including use of visual aids and specialist equipment
Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families
Candidate Requirements
Experience of working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable but not essential
A caring, patient and resilient approach is essential
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A Child Workforce Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential for this role
Pay & Hours
£13.75 per hour
Hours can be discussed and agreed based on availability and school requirements
Term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
