Male SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant
Location: Dagenham, East London (RM9)
Salary: £95 – £120 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time and Long-term - options to go perm
Start Date: Immediate or ASAP
About the Role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and confident Male SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary setting supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as mild to moderate learning difficulties.
The ideal candidate will have a background or strong interest in physical education, performing arts, art, or music, and a genuine passion for inspiring young people through positive engagement and creative learning.
Responsibilities:

Support students with additional needs in and out of the classroom, promoting engagement and positive behaviour
*
Use sport, drama, art, or music as a tool to motivate and build relationships with learners
*
Work 1:1 and in small groups to help students re-engage with learning
*
Support emotional regulation and de-escalation strategies where required
*
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning plans and activities
*
Model positive male role behaviour, consistency, and respect
Requirements:
*
Experience working with SEN / SEMH pupils (school, youth work, mentoring, or coaching settings)
*
Background in Physical Education, Performing Arts, Art, or Music highly desirable
*
A calm, confident, and resilient personality
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills
*
Comfortable managing challenging behaviour with a positive approach
*
DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
