Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant in our Alternative Provision, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students' emotional, social, and academic development. You will work closely with teachers to provide tailored learning support to students with SEMH, ensuring they can engage in lessons, build confidence, and make progress in their education. The role requires flexibility, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting students facing significant challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Support teachers in the delivery of lessons and learning activities for students with SEMH.
Provide individual and small group support to students, focusing on their specific needs and learning styles.
Help manage classroom behavior and create a calm, positive learning environment.
Offer emotional support to students, helping them develop coping strategies and resilience.
Assist with monitoring student progress and contribute to the development of personalized learning plans.
Work closely with other staff members, including SENCOs, counsellors, and mental health professionals, to ensure holistic support for each student.
Support students in developing their social and emotional skills, as well as their academic abilities.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, well-being, and behavior.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEMH or additional needs.
A passion for supporting vulnerable students and making a positive impact on their lives.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students who may face challenges in their learning and behavior.
A non-judgmental approach and a commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
Knowledge of SEMH and strategies for supporting emotional and behavioral development would be an advantage.
A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or similar) is desirable but not essential.
