SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their learning and personal development in a nurturing environment.

As part of our dedicated support team, you will work with:

Small groups of pupils who require additional learning support
Individual children (1:1) with specific educational, social or emotional needsYour role will involve assisting the class teacher, adapting learning materials, and helping to create a positive and engaging classroom environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide targeted support for children with a range of special educational needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social and emotional needs)
Assist the class teacher with the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons and activities
Support children's social and emotional development, helping them to build confidence and independence
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
Contribute to a safe, caring and stimulating learning environmentAbout You

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting
Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about inclusive education
Can work collaboratively as part of a team and use their initiative
Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
Has good communication and organisational skillsWhat We Offer
